What Once Was Lost
The Art of Assemblage
Members, faculty and community
First Friday Artist Reception:
October 4 | 5:30-9 pm
Exhibition Dates:
September 30-November 13, 2013
Sometimes
mistaken as an art of hoarding and amassing, assemblage is actually
the art of careful selection. Born from Surrealism in the early1920s
and bolstered by consumerism, the aesthetic of assemblage maintains a
contemporary feel in a culture overwhelmed with 'stuff.' This
exhibition explores contemporary found-object sculpture that finds the
delicate balance of effectively chosen elements.
